A Place of Refuge for the Internally-Displaced

The Miango Community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State is one that has witnessed numerous attacks in recent times from killer herdsmen. As a result of activities from these killer herdsmen on erstwhile peaceful communities, a good number of men are killed and their families, mainly women and children, flee and end up internally-displaced.

On Saturday, 17 October, some members of the Channel paid a visit to the Miango Commmunity with Food, drinks and gifts. Sixty children, men and women joined us as we had lunch together and held sessions where they shared about their experiences and where we studied scriptures together.

In thanking the Channel, the community leader made it clear that this was a therapeutic session for most of them as the the plight of losing members of their families and being forcefully relocated from their communities was heavy on their hearts and such activities as we did brought them immense relief.

This activity, first of its kind for the Channel, was made possible by donations from the Friends and Partners of the Channel. Logistics support was provided for by the Theological College of Northern Nigeria (TCNN).
